Successful completion of the First Financial Reportage Competition by SFS Group
SFS Group awarded the winners of the Financial Reportage Competition at a special ceremony which took place in Nicosia.
The competition, which shall be conducted on an annual basis, was established by SFS Group in an effort to acknowledge and reward the important role of financial editors in the provision of information to the Cypriot society relating to the economic sector.
A different subject-matter shall be chosen every year which will focus on topics relating to the economic activity and innovation in Cyprus. This year, the competition’s subject is “The impact of the financial crisis on the Cyprus economy”.
The first prize of €1,500 was awarded to the editor team of InBusiness: Maria Michael, Stella Mourettou, Sokratis Ioakim, Maria Louvari, Adreas Kostouris, Aggelos Aggelodimou and Erato Pisiara for the Reportage entitled “Challenge Question: Which will be the first findings of the market leading actors, which will be the impact on 2009 and why is there a divergence of views?”
The second prize of €1,000 was awarded to Michael Persianis, Economic Editor at Kathimerini newspaper for the article entitled “The revenge of Adam Smith”. The third prize of €500 was awarded to Athina Xenofontos, Economic Editor at Haravgi newspaper for the reportage entitled “The risks posed by credit expansion”.
The entries were evaluated by the Examining Committee, based on four criteria: • Argumentation, adequate analysis and information on the subject-matter • Innovation • Quality • Language expression (clarity)
The Committee consisted of Dr. Spyros Hadjidakis (University of Nicosia), Dr. Nayia Roussou (University of Nicosia), Dr. Christos Christodoulou-Volos (European University Cyprus), Dr. Sotiris Theocharides (Frederick University).
